Marilyne Blais is an artist handmaking far-out ceramics in Berlin, Germany. Marilyne’s designs are the antithesis to traditional ceramics. She offers a curated selection of refreshingly eclectic forms, bold airbrushed gradients and vivid colors for homewares with a heap of character. These three elements are the cornerstones her new identity.
Our logo for Marilyne mixes lettershapes reminiscent of her designs to speak directly to the variety of her instantly recognisable ceramics. In bringing Marilyne’s world to life we designed an extensive asset library of gradients, shapes and graphics. The typefaces for the brand continue the eclectic graphic forms of the logo. Even the brand sans-serif font has an uncanniness to it with its elongated dot.
A big part of this asset library was an otherwordly illustrated identity that mixed 2D and 3D sticker-like illustations with airbrushed drawings. Airbrushed gradients are a cornerstone of Marilyne’s designs, and we built this clashing mix from Marilyne’s own inspiration – 1960s psychedelia, 1980s post-modernism and 1990s internet nostalgia.
